The Maine Food Convergence Project is a joint effort of five organizations: Maine Climate Action NOW!; Maine Farm to Institution Network; Maine Food Strategy; the Maine Gleaning Network; and the Maine Network of Community Food Councils – The Core Team. The project will focus around a state-wide convening of the many varied groups that influence and are influenced by the food system in Maine. The goal is to connect these groups and strengthen their relationships to develop a more coherent and effective vision for Maine’s food system, and after the event to effect that vision using the connections and relationships built along the way.
Prior to the state-wide gathering, the Core Team will support existing networks and organizations to convene 5 Regional Dialogues that will help engage diverse partners in designing the state-wide Convergence.
The outcome of the project will be sustained change in Maine’s food system towards one that is equitable and environmentally conscious - a regionally focused, regenerative agriculture and food system that meets the needs of all Mainers.
